Delphinium elatum is a species of Delphinium known by the common name alpine delphinium<ref name=BSBI07>Template:Cite web</ref> or candle larkspur. There are several popular cultivars covering a range of colours from blue and purple to pink, cream, and white,<ref name=sunset/> which are grown as ornamental plants. D. elatum is also a source of hybrids.
Cultivar series include Magic Fountains,<ref name=rhs/> Pacific giant,<ref name=mbg/> Dwarf Pacific, New Millennium,<ref name=newmill/> and Aurora (six varieties: Blue, Deep Purple, Lavender, Light Blue, Light Purple and White).<ref name=gg/>
Seven C19-norditerpenoid alkaloids, N-formyl-4,19-secopacinine, iminoisodelpheline, iminodelpheline, iminopaciline, 6-dehydroeladine, elpacidine, and melpheline, can be isolated from Delphinium elatum. <ref>Template:Cite journal</ref>
