Teucrium chamaedrys

Teucrium chamaedrys, the wall germander,<ref>Template:PLANTS</ref> is a species of ornamental plant native to Mediterranean region of Europe and North Africa, and to the Middle East as far east as Iran.<ref name=p>Kew World Checklist of Selected Plant Families</ref><ref>Altervista Flora Italiana</ref><ref>Castroviejo, S. & al. Wall germander is a creeping evergreen perennial 6 to 18 inches tall. Its scalloped, opposite leaves are 1/2 - 1Template:Frac inches long, dark green, and shiny. In late summer, tubular flowers grow in whorls from the leaf axils.


Wall germander can be grown in USDA Zones 5-10. It may be propagated by vegetative cuttings or by the division of established clumps.

Medicinal uses

In Bulgaria, a tea is made from the leaves of this herb, called podabiče (подъбиче), to ease gastric distress.Template:Citation needed
